Johor’s severely affected flash flood victims would be transferred to PPR.

The Johor government will assist those whose homes were seriously damaged by flash floods in being relocated to the People’s Housing Project (PPR).

Every impacted family will be relocated right away to a PPR home by Women, Family, and Community Development. There are people that live in discomfort while renting. Khairin-Nisa Ismail is confident that the state government would look into it. The victims will stay temporarily for one or two months, following which the Women, Family, and Community Development will provide for rent-to-buy accommodation for anyone who is eligible to apply.

Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid, the chairman of the Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Committee, was also present. He said that RM7,200 had been allotted by the Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAINJ), with RM300 going to each household. He claimed the state’s help would shortly be announced by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Before the flood waters totally subsided by 10 p.m. yesterday, heavy rain that fell for two hours starting at 3 p.m. yesterday had buried a number of sites more than two metres deep.

86 individuals from 29 families were relocated to two PPS from the flood-affected Kampung Laut Batu 10, Kampung Pasir, Kampung Kangkar Tebrau, and Kampung Kenangan.
