2 Hong Leong Bank branches are postponed in closing.

Two branches that were initially scheduled to close in August will now close in September thanks to a change in the branch closure schedule made by Hong Leong Bank.

The bank in Sungai Dua, Butterworth, Penang, which was initially slated to close in August, will now do so on September 9, according to a message from Hong Leong Bank. The National Bank must still ratify the branch closure decision, though.

When HLB’s branch in Sungai Dua, Butterworth, Penang, closes, its operations will be moved to Jalan Ong Yi How, Butterworth.

The Penang branch of Balik Pulau, which was initially scheduled to close in August, will also be delayed until September 23. The Bank Negara must also provide its approval before the branch can be closed. The business of the closed branch will be transferred to the branch in Sungai Ara.

Hong Leong Bank is modifying the operations of each branch in light of the growing popularity of internet banking. In Malaysia, there are still 232 Hong Leong Banks and 1,024 self-service kiosks.
