According to the data released by the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the inflation rate in June increased to 3.4%, exceeded the market’s expectation of 3.2%. The general expectation is that the inflation rate will continue to climb in July and August.
Prime Minister stated last month that the government will continue to provide assistance to people and will not let them to tighten their belts (Ikat Perut). If the price of goods in the country continues to rise, the government will increase the amount of BKM aid when it is released in September and December.
Prime Minister said that the increased BKM aid will effectively ease the burden of the B40 low-income group at a time when commodity prices are increasing. The government has never paid out more than RM2,000 before, but in 2022 the government pay out more than RM2,000 for the first time.
Under the 2022 BKM Assistance Scheme, single mothers with three or more children and a monthly income of up to RM2,500 will receive RM2,500. If we add the RM100 that the government will increase the amount of assistance in the end of June, it means that the amount of assistance for this group is RM2,600.
Prime Minister Datuk announced at the end of June that BKM recipients in the family category will receive an additional RM100 while those in the single category will receive RM50.

No children: RM200
1 or 2 children: RM300
3 children or more: RM400
2. Monthly income RM2501-RM5000 family (59 years old or below)
No children: RM100
1. 2 children: RM100
3 children or above: RM100
3. Family with monthly income not exceeding RM2500 (60 years old or above)
No children: RM500
1 or 2 children: RM600
3 children or above: RM700
4. Monthly income RM2501-RM5000 family (60 years old or above)
No children: RM400
1 or 2 children: RM400
3 children or above: RM400
5. Family with monthly income not exceeding RM2500 (Single parent family with children)
1 or 2 children: RM800
3 children or more: RM900
6. Family with monthly income of RM2501-RM5000 (single parent family with children)
1 or 2 children: RM600
3 children or more: RM600
7. Widowed/single elderly with monthly income not exceeding RM5000
Age 60 years or above: RM150
8. Single person with monthly income not more than RM2500
Age 21 or above: RM150
