5km traffic congestion on PLUS Expressway near Tapah caused by 4 vehicles colliding
This morning, a four-vehicle pileup on the northbound North-South Expressway at Kilometer 336.3, close to Tapah, resulted in backups in both directions for almost five kilometers.
A cement tanker, a Toyota Hilux with four wheels, two cars—an Audi and a Toyota Yaris—and the incident happened about 9.45 in the morning, according to Tapah district police commander Supt Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail.
According to a preliminary inquiry, the cement tanker, which was traveling south, abruptly collided with the Toyota Hilux’s back, causing the latter to collide with the Audi vehicle’s rear as a result.
The incident also resulted in the tanker driver losing control of the wheel, which caused the car to veer to the right side of the road and crash into a divider before skidding into the other lane and colliding with a Toyota Yaris that was moving in that direction.
The tanker skidded into a drain on the other side of the freeway as a result of the collision.
According to Wan Azharuddin, the 40-year-old drivers of the Audi and Toyota Yaris and the 28-year-old cement tanker driver were unharmed in the collision.
He stated that the Toyota Hilux’s driver, whose identity was unknown, had brain injuries. Awang filed charges.
