A thunderstorm destroys 100 houses in Perlis.
A thunderstorm here yesterday caused the destruction of 100 homes, the majority of which had their roofs ripped off.
When contacted by Bernama today, State Civil Defence Force (APM) director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Izaimi Md Daud stated that no casualties have been reported thus far and that the precise number of losses has not yet been determined.
In light of the erratic weather, he cautioned the populace to exercise caution and pay attention to any official catastrophe warnings.
Yesterday, a storm that hit Perlis from around 10am till late at night caused damage to around 50 homes.
Mata Ayer, Kampung Panggas Kechil, Kampung Lubok Besar, Kuala Perlis, Padang Pauh, Lubuk Sireh, Kangar, Abi, Bukit Keteri, Kurung Batang, Balik Bukit, Wang Besar, and Beseri were among the regions affected.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department’s website states that until this Sunday (July 17), rain is expected in the morning, with thunderstorms possible in a few locations in the state’s interior in the afternoon.
