More than 4,000 new cases were reported in my country in a single day, and the BA.5 strain epidemic may begin to break out!

08/07/2022

The Omicron subvariant BA.5 strain has spread locally in our country and will lead to a second infection in a short period of time in people who have been diagnosed with coronary artery disease.

Health Minister Carey held a press conference at 3 p.m. on July 8 and noted that the single-day trend of new cases and hospital admissions in our country is on the rise and that the BA.5 strain is likely to have already broken out in our country.

Our single day of new cases on July 7 was 4020, the first time in recent months that the 4,000 mark was exceeded. Our latest week saw a 31% increase in new cases and a 13.7% increase in hospital admissions over the previous week.

High-risk groups urged to get second booster dose as soon as possible to improve their protection High-risk groups include people who are at an advanced age, frontline workers, and people with comorbidities. The second dose of booster can be administered as soon as more than 6 months have elapsed since the first dose.
