Sarawak’s birth rate decreased by 50% in 2021.
With only 20,000 births reported in contrast to roughly 40,000 in prior years, Sarawak’s birth rate decreased by half last year. The low birth rate, according to Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr. Sim Kui Hian, may be a result of urbanisation, rising educational attainment, and work-related stress.
