Maybank official alerted users through a Facebook post that they must be aware of the fake websites as many fraudsters have recently set up fake Maybank websites in an attempt to steal users’ online bank account usernames and passwords. First of all, if you find the “Enter username and password fields” on the Maybank website, then the website is fake and you should not continue to log in! This is because the real Maybank website will display a Security Image and Phrase for users to confirm before they enter their password.
Next, if you find that the security image and text displayed before logging in is not the one you set or the security image displayed could not load, do not log in again! This is one of the ways that scammers steal user passwords!
Last but not least, Maybank stresses again and again that you must check the correct website before logging into your account. The real bank website is http://www.maybank2u.com.my and anything else that shows a different website than this one is a fake, such as www.maybanku.com or www.maybαnku.com ( The second a-letter is alpha-alpha) are fake websites! For security reasons, Maybank officials urge users to manually enter the correct bank URL each time.
If you find any discrepancy before logging into your account and you are not able to identify whether the bank website is genuine or not, you can always call Maybank’s hotline at 03-5891 4744 to check the authenticity. Nowadays, unscrupulous elements are very clever, so you should be more careful to avoid losing your money.
