21/06/2022

There are still 264,000 new car orders that have not yet been delivered to their owners!

According to a message sent by Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul, there are still 264,000 orders for new cars that have not been delivered to owners due to global supply chain disruptions and shortages of on-board chips. These orders should be delivered to owners within the next nine months.

The government has introduced a sales tax exemption for car purchases since June 2020, and so far a total of 868,422 cars have been sold, with the government exempting a total of RM4.7 billion in sales tax.

If you really need to buy a new car, you may consider placing your order before June 30, 2022 as you will be entitled to the sales tax exemption as long as your new car is ordered before June 30 and delivered before March 31, 2023.

It is generally expected that the price of Perodua Myvi will increase by RM1500 to RM1900 and Perodua Bezza may increase by RM1100 to RM1600 when sales tax is reinstated.

It’s worth it to buy a car now!
