Coffee and tea drinks are expected to increase their prices again in June. This is the third price increase after the February and April price hikes.
Some coffee shops in the country increased the price of coffee and tea beverages in February this year, before opting to raise the price of coffee and tea in April due to increased costs. Now the coffee shop operators are planning to raise prices again in June. However, the three price hikes are not too significant.
Coffee shop operators revealed that condensed milk, evaporated milk, tea, coffee powder, gas, rent and staff salaries are all increasing in price, so they have no choice but to increase the price of drinks. However, there are still many coffee shop operators who dare not raise prices for fear of scaring away customers, so they can only reduce staff and sell more at a lower profit margin.
Faced with the pressure of business costs, some coffee shop operators choose to adjust the selling price of drinks. The coffee shop operators pointed out that a 20 sen increase in the price of a cup of coffee would only increase the profit of 100 cups of coffee by RM20, which is only a subsidy to the operators.
Will you still choose to eat at coffee shops when the prices of cooked food and beverages in coffee shops are increasing?
