Children over 5 years old who have not been vaccinated need to pay for the vaccine after May 31.
Do you have any 5-year-old children at home who haven’t been vaccinated against Covid-19? Remember to get your child vaccinated before May 31; otherwise, you will be responsible for the cost of the immunisation.
The Children’s Vaccination Programme (PICKids), according to the Ministry of Health, will end on May 31, 2022, and children above the age of 5 can be vaccinated against Covid-19 for free before that date. Parents can only send their children to private clinics for vaccines from May 31.
Children aged 6 to 12, as well as children born in 2017 who turned five before May 31, are excluded from the legislation.
If your child was born in 2017, but his or her birthday falls between May 31 and December 31, the Covid-19 vaccine is still free. If your child has already got the first dose of the vaccine, the second dosage will be given to them for free.
It is well established that vaccine demand for children is low, resulting in a substantial number of vaccines being wasted. The Ministry of Health decided to delay the first dosage of the vaccine until May 31 in order to avoid wasting the vaccine.
