The manager of Mydin encouraged the government to remove all subsidies and instead distribute the funds to the people directly. Are you agree with it?

The managing director of Mydin asked the government to abolish all subsidies and offer cash aid to the general public directly. Are you in favour of this suggestion?

According to Oriental Daily, Datuk Ameer, the managing director of Mydin, the existing government subsidy system is problematic since the subsidy should be more targeted. Ameer claims that the T20 never requested government assistance.

Ameer stated that the government should not assist in the economy and that food and service prices should be determined by the market. Ameer believes that when the government actively assists individuals in need with cash, the money is returned to the economy, resulting in a double effect.

The government has recently been in the spotlight for announcing targeted subsidies, and the increasing international petrol price has had a significant impact on the government. In February of last year, the government subsidised gasoline goods by RM200 million, RM2 billion in January of this year, and even more than RM4 billion in March of 2022.

People who drive a BMW, according to Trade and Industry Minister Azmin, are not entitled to the same amount as those who drive a Kancil.  Those who can afford to pay more should do so, and government assistance should be allocated to the poor.

Sugar, flour, cooking oil, fertilizers, gasoline, diesel, cement, liquefied natural gas, chicken, and other commodities are included on the list of restricted products in the Supply Control Act 1961 and the Supply Control Regulations 1974.

Do you agree with the government’s idea to abolish all subsidies and distribute cash directly to citizens?
