With government opening up country’s borders, many people are beginning to make arrangements to travel abroad for work, family visits or tourism.
According to information released by the Malaysian Immigration Department, those wishing to renew their Malaysian International Passport will need to renew their passports through an online system and then collect their new passports at a designated immigration counter.
This applies to all groups except first-time passport applicants, the elderly, the physically challenged, children under 13, pilgrims, students and those who have lost or damaged their passports.
After renewing their passports through the online system, people will receive a notification email within 3 working days and can then collect their new passports from the designated immigration office. If you do not receive the notification email after 3 working days, you can go directly to the designated Immigration Office branch to collect your passport.
To renew your passport online, you must first visit https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/eservices/myPasport and read the terms and conditions, then click on Setuju. You will then need to select the applicant’s age category, enter your passport number, identity card number and other information, and the branch where you want to collect your passport. the branch of the immigration office where the passport is to be collected.
You will then need to fill in the details, upload an eligible photograph and complete the payment process. You must print the renewal receipt and bring it, your old passport and ID card to the designated Immigration branch to collect your updated passport.
The passport renewal fee is RM200 for those aged 13 to 59 years old and RM100 for those aged 60 years old and above, and can be paid by credit card or FPX transfer.
