Malaysia’s National Health Agenda will be a success, according to Finance Minister.
The government has always been dedicated to allocating sufficient funds to guarantee that the Malaysian National Health Agenda (ANMS) is realised and completely benefits the Malaysian family.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz stated that ANMS would be prioritised in the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), particularly in terms of strengthening health-care delivery.
The government will continue to develop a healthy culture via Budget 2022, in addition to agreeing to continue ANMS, which Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced last November.
According to the finance minister, improving health literacy and awareness among Malaysian families is one of the initiatives that will be implemented through the 12MP.
ANMS, he said, aspires to promote a culture of healthy living and environmental sustainability a new standard to support the Malaysian family’s well-being.
When launching ANMS on November 11 last year, Ismail Sabri was quoted as saying that the goal of ANMS was to equip Malaysian families to face and overcome the endemic phase of Covid-19.
Tengku Zafrul had previously delivered a contribution of 20 wheelchairs to the NSCMH Hemodialysis Centre in order to ensure that it continues to provide quality services to the local population.
Meanwhile, he stated that in addition to charging a low treatment fee, the centre also assisted hemodialysis patients by covering the cost of treatment and providing subsidies based on their income, relieving their financial burden.
The current cost of each treatment is estimated to be RM170, and each patient requires 13 treatments each month. According to Zafrul, this equates to a monthly cost of around RM2,200.
According to the Malaysian Dialysis and Transplantation Registry, about 50,000 individuals are on dialysis, the majority of them are on haemodialysis, and about 8,000 new dialysis patients are added each year.
