Is it possible to appeal if the amount of BKM received does not correspond to your current financial situation?

12/04/2022

If the BKM awarded does not match your current financial situation, is it feasible for you to file an appeal.

If the BKM you received does not correspond your income status, you can file an appeal.

The BKM is a government-sponsored programme that aims to make life easier for low-income people. Households with a monthly income of up to RM5,000 and single people with a monthly income of up to RM2,500 can get government-issued help under the BKM programme.

BKM help has been provided in phases since March 28. You have until May 2 to file an appeal if your application for BKM assistance is denied, or if the amount of BKM you received does not match your income status.

Many people claim that their household income is less than RM2,500, but they are only eligible for help in the RM2,501 to RM5,000 range. Some people also expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that they had three children yet were given aid for the group with only two children.

Some persons reported that despite the fact that they were single and had an income of less than RM2,500, their application for help was denied since their income was more than RM2,500.

You can also try to appeal if your salary was more than RM5,000 last year but you have taken a pay cut this year and your income is now less than RM5,000.

You have until May 2 to file an appeal if you are dissatisfied with the quantity of assistance you are receiving today. From May 2 until June 2, 2022, you can file an appeal. The public can file a complaint directly with the BKM or the LHDN counter. If you are filing an appeal over the counter, you have until May 9 to June 2 to do so.
