Non-medical masks require SIRIM certification

05/04/2022

According to KPDNHEP, Certification and Marking for Non-Medical Masks 2022 under the Commodity Matters Order 2011 has been gazetted and will come into force on 4 July 2022.

Under the Act, manufacturers and importers of non-medical masks are required to apply for SIRIM certification. MS SIRIM logo must be printed on the box so that the mark is easily visible to consumers.

In future, if you see a mask with the SIRIM logo on the market, this means that the mask is SIRIM certified.

Any company that fails to comply with the Act will be fined up to RM200,000 and repeat offenders will be fined up to RM500,000. An individual who contravenes the Act is liable to a fine of up to RM100,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years or both.
