According to the Director General of the Meteorological Department, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are expected in the afternoons and people are advised not to go to rivers, beaches or high-risk areas to avoid accidents.

Malaysia is currently in the midst of the monsoon season. During the change of monsoon, violent storms and thunderstorms can occur along the west coast and inland areas of West Malaysia, the west coast of Sabah and west & central Sarawak. The weather is usually good in the morning, but heavy rain and strong winds can occur for a short period of time in the late afternoon and evening.

Parents are advised to keep an eye on their children and not to let them go to the river or the beach to play in the water.
