On May 1, our country will introduce a RM1500 minimum wage, however the necessary specifics and implementation requirements have yet to be established.

The government plans to establish a RM1500 minimum wage system on May 1st, but the details are still being worked out!

Despite the Prime Minister’s announcement that the minimum pay system will go into effect on May 1, the Deputy Minister of Human Resources of Malaysia stated that the minimum wage system is still in the stage of departmental negotiations, and the details have not yet been finalised.

The government will go over the implementation procedures and regulations for businesses in the new minimum wage system, including which businesses can be exempt from the system and how many employees they have.

Employees would work harder after the minimum wage system is implemented, according to the government, because their pay will be proportional to the amount of effort they put in. Employers are urged to support the RM1,500 minimum wage scheme, according to the government. Raising the minimum wage will help the B40 low-income group’s economic concerns significantly.

During the closing debate of the Umno General Assembly, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri declared that the government will raise the minimum salary from RM1200 to RM1500 starting May 1, 2022. Only huge firms and government-affiliated businesses will be affected by the new rule.
