More and more employees are faking the results of self-testing agents to get paid leave!

17/03/2022

According to the current policy of the Ministry of Health, the public is encouraged to use the self-service test/antigen rapid test kit (RTK-AG) to test. Once a positive result is found, that is, a diagnosis, it must be reported to the authorities.

The public can report your test results through the COVID-19 Self Test function on the MySejahtera homepage and select Update Self Test Result.

However, if people belong to a low-risk group and do not have severe symptoms, they will not need to go to the Coronavirus Assessment Center (CAC), and MySejahtera will automatically issue a home isolation order.

The Peninsular Malaysia Manpower Department (JTKSM) has previously stated that the Home Isolation Order (HSO) received by MySJ of the confirmed employee is considered a legal sick leave certificate under Act 342. In this regard, some employees tampered with the test results by themselves, in order to defraud the paid leave.

According to the “The Star” report, the newspaper interviewed employees who had been involved in fraudulently obtaining sick leave, and found that their fake self-test results were uploaded to the MySejahtera mobile app, and they were all accepted by the system. They successfully obtained a home isolation order and applied for paid sick leave to the company.

One employee revealed that he used photo editing software to add a second line to a photo of a self-test showing one line (negative), making people mistakenly believe he was positive. This was an easy task, he uploaded fake photos to MySejahtera and successfully obtained a home quarantine order for a while.

Another person involved in a fake self-test said that he used the positive result of a friend’s self-test to fake his own diagnosis status.

The Star interviewed the Ministry of Health, and a Penang Health Department official told The Star that there is no provision under the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act 1988 (Act 342) to authorize the Health Department to take action against counterfeiting People with COVID-19 test results.

In any event, the company can take disciplinary action, including taking a pay cut, temporary suspension, or dismissal for seven days off work.
