According to a message from Transport Minister, the Klang Valley’s MRT3 will be opened for tender in May and is expected to cost RM31 billion for construction, RM8.4 billion for land acquisition and other costs, adding up to a total cost of RM60 to RM70 billion.
Of the five major contrators for MRT3, two general contractors are responsible for the elevated track project, one for the underground track, one for the integrated rail system and one for the MRT-led project.
MRT3 is a circular route of 50.8 km, 40.1 km of which is in Kuala Lumpur and the remaining 10.7 km in Selangor. A total of 80% of the MRT3 is elevated and 20% is underground.
There are 31 stations, 10 of which will be connected to MRT 1, MRT 2, LRT, Monorail and KTM.
