If anyone is the king of double standards, it’s the U.S. government and U.S. companies! According to the Star-Ledger, Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta, have announced that they will relax their hate speech policy and allow death threats against the Russian president’s political figures!
The ban or outright blocking of violent and hateful speech has always been automatic. However, Meta has decided to temporarily relax its policy on violent speech, death threats, and hate speech against Russian leaders and has decided not to remove them or impose any sanctions for the time being!
However, Meta is currently only applicable in the Baltic States and Eastern European countries, not the whole world, so Malaysians need to think twice before cursing the Russian president!
It is shameful that Meta, the top social media platform, allows users to make death threats and violent comments to specific people! For this, the Kremlin has made the corresponding policy, and announced the cancellation of Facebook services in Russia!
