According to Prime Minister, in crowded and enclosed public places, people need to turn on MySJ Trace to track if there is a diagnosed person nearby.
MySJ Trace is a feature in MySejahtera app that uses Bluetooth to determine if there is a diagnosed person nearby. Once the system confirms that there is a diagnosed person nearby, the system will ask the user to take protective measures.
MySJ Trace has been available for some time, but many people still not willing to turn it on as it uses Bluetooth and Location features of their phone and runs in the background. Many people are concerned that turning on MySJ Trace will drain their phone’s battery while some are concerned about privacy issues.
According to MySJ Trace’s Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), MySJ Trace will only collect the user’s Unique User ID (UUID), phone system, contact time and Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI), so users do not need to worry about exposing their privacy and data security. Besides, MySJ Trace will only use low-power Bluetooth.
