According to a message from Air Asia, Air Asia will re-impose fuel surcharges on domestic and international flights from March 8. This is to offset rising jet fuel prices, which are currently at $120 per barrel.
Air Asia abolished the fuel surcharge in 2015, when oil prices were around $48 a barrel, and today oil prices have surged 160% to $120 a barrel.
Air Asia fuel surcharges is as follows, RM10 for domestic flights in Malaysia, RM25 for 1 to 2 hours international flights, RM35 for 2 to hours international flights, and 3 to 4 hours RM50 is required for international flights. When passengers complete an international flight of more than 4 hours, they need to pay a fuel surcharge of RM60.
Notice! The fuel surchage will only be levied on tickets booked after March 8,2022, and the fuel surcharge will not be charged for tickets that have been booked before.
Air Asia said this is only a temporary measure, and Air Asia will ensure that ticket prices remain low.
