The Ministry of Health has announced a few days ago that starting March 1, 2022, those over 18 who received 2 doses of Sinovac vaccine, or those over 60 who received any brand vaccine, must get a booster dose, otherwise they will be considered incomplete vaccination.
However, according to data from the authorities, up to now, there are still as many as 2.7 million people who have completed the Sinovac vaccine and have not yet get their booster shots! Deputy Director-General of Health (Public Health) Datuk Teo Chee Keong revealed the news in an interview with a domestic newspaper.
There are still 2.7 million people who have been vaccinated by Sinovac, who have not yet get a booster vaccine, which will cause their vaccination status to change from yellow to white incomplete status from March 1.
Once it becomes an “incomplete vaccination” status, these people may face some restrictions, including the inability to enjoy the benefits of a complete vaccination, but the specifics still need to be based on the latest announcement by the National Security Council.
On the other hand, whether the Ministry of Health will also force people who are vaccinated with other brands of vaccines to get a booster. Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Health (Public Health) Datuk Teo Chee Keong said that the Ministry does not recommend doing so at this time.
He explained that Sinovac vaccinators need boosters because they have a higher risk of infection and breakthrough infections, especially severe disease.
