AirAsia may increase the counter Check-In Fee to RM100 this year!

23/02/2022

According to sources, AirAsia may increase the counter check-in fee from RM20 or RM30 to RM100 starting from March 2022.

From 2020, AirAsia will introduce a fee for check-in at the counter. Passengers who go to the check-in counter to check-in will be charged a fee of RM20 for domestic flights and RM30 for international flights.

When AirAsia updated the FAQ page of the website a few days ago, it had shown that starting from March 1, 2022, the Counter Check-In Fee will be increased to RM100.

However, the update is currently unavailable on AirAsia’s website, so it is unknown whether it was a technical issue, an erroneous change, or the temporary cancellation of the increase for other reasons.

In any event, the following guests and situations will be free of the counter registration fee:

  • Disabled passengers
  • Passengers traveling with infants (under 24 months)
  • Teenagers traveling alone (12 to 16 years old)
  • Passengers affected by flight schedule changes or cancellations
  • There are no airport check-in kiosks available or all check-in kiosks are unavailable
  • Passengers who are unable to complete online, mobile, or self-service check-in due to a system error
  • Passengers who purchased seat upgrades or other additional paid services at the check-in counter
  • BIG Platinum and BIG Black members
  • Frequent flyers (except AirAsia India) and Premium Flatbed passengers
  • Corporate Full Flex (GCP) and Corporate Lite Guest (GCP) (excluding AirAsia India Red Carpet passengers)
  • Passengers with government reservations
  • Air marshals on duty
  • Guests who have completed self-service check-in need to reprint their boarding pass at the check-in counter

As for other passengers, the public can conveniently avoid paying the fee by choosing to use the AirAsia.com website, mobile application, or airport self-service check-in kiosks for free check-in.
