Primary and secondary schools will begin their final holiday on February 25 or 26. This also means that primary and secondary schools have finally ended the 2021 school year and will usher in a brand new 2022 school year!
The Ministry of Education has decided to extend the 2021 school year until February 2022 after schools were closed several times last year due to COVID-19. From January 2022 to February, students will continue to be in accordance with the class of the 2021 school year. Then, the new school year started in March 2022.
Schools in group A states – Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu – will close on Feb 25, 2022, ending the 2021 school year. The new 2022 school year will begin on March 21.
For group B state students (Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perak, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan), the end of term holiday will start on Feb 26 and the new 2022 school year will start on March 21.
Class schedule for the 2022 school year:
Group A schools:
- February 25 to March 20, 2022 (year-end holiday)
- March 21, 2022, to February 16, 2023 (need to attend the class)
- February 17 to March 11, 2023 (year-end holiday)
Group B schools:
- February 26 to March 20, 2022 (year-end holiday)
- March 21, 2022, to February 17, 2023 (need to attend the class)
- February 18 to March 12, 2023 (year-end holiday)
