KUALA LUMPUR: As of yesterday, 79,393 children aged five to eleven, or 2.2% of the country’s population, had received the first dose of the vaccine through the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids).
PICKids, which was launched on February 3, requires recipients to receive the second dose within an eight-week period.
According to the COVIDNOW website, as of yesterday, a total of 12,926,703 people, or 55.2 percent of the adult population in the country, had received the booster dose.
A total of 22,934,496 people, or 98% of the population, have been fully vaccinated, and 99.2%, or 23,210,020 people, have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
In the case of adolescents aged 12 to 17, a total of 2,794,416 people, or 88.8 percent of the population, have completed the vaccination, while 2,872,087 people, or 91.3 percent, have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Yesterday, a total of 173,428 doses of the vaccine were administered, with 18,343 being the first dose, 1,739 being the second dose, and 153,346 being the booster dose, bringing the total number of vaccine doses dispensed under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) to 64,611,898.
Meanwhile, 10 Covid-19-related deaths were reported yesterday, according to the Health Ministry’s GitHub portal, with two cases each in Perak and Selangor, and one case each in Johor, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Melaka, and Pulau Pinang. – Bernama
