The number of confirmed cases of coronary artery disease in the country will rise sharply in the coming weeks!
Health Minister Khairy predicts a sharp rise in confirmed coronary cases in the coming weeks due to the highly infectious Omicron variant of the virus.
Singapore added 13,208 confirmed cases and 6 deaths yesterday, while China added 9,117 confirmed cases today and 7,234 confirmed cases yesterday, the first time in recent months that the country has surpassed 7,000 new cases in a single day. There are now 63,395 active cases in the country.
Khairy noted that the indications so far are that Omicron is much less severe than the Delta variant, but that people still need to remain vigilant and accelerate their immunization with a booster vaccine for protection.
Khairy previously said that with the emergence of the Omicron variant, the number of confirmed cases per day is no longer the focus of attention, but rather the severity of confirmed cases, such as the number of hospital admissions, intensive care unit utilization and deaths.
