25/12/2021

Due to severe flooding in the central part of the peninsula, in order to keep the flood victims in contact, Digi decided to adjust the timetable for shutting down the 3G network.

According to Digi’s news, Digi will delay the shutdown of 3G networks in North Malaysia and Klang Valley, and will close the 3G network on January 6, 2022 at the latest. The floods have already affected telecommunications towers in parts of the country. Some 4G telecommunications towers are also malfunctioning, and Digi is working hard to repair these malfunctions.

Digi was originally scheduled to shut down 3G networks in Kedah, Perak, Perlis and Penang on December 20, but it has been postponed to January 3, 2022. As for the Digi 3G network in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, which was originally scheduled to be closed on December 22, it has now been postponed to January 6, 2022.

The Digi 3G network in Sarawak will be shut down on December 30th as scheduled. Digi 3G networks in other states such as Kelantan, Pahang, Terengganu, Sabah, Johor, Malacca and Negeri Sembilan have been closed.

Many users complained that since the 3G network was shut down, the E signal, which is the 2G signal, often appeared on the mobile phone. Under the 2G network, only ordinary calls and text messages can be sent, and Internet access is basically impossible.
