The Meteorological Department issued a red rainstorm warning! People are urged to park their cars on high ground!

18/12/2021

Attention! The Meteorological Department has issued a Red Rainstorm Warning for Selangor!

The Malaysian Meteorological Department issued a weather alert at 2pm on December 18 for persistent heavy rainfall in several areas, including North Malaysia, East Coast and Klang Valley.

The reason for the heavy rainfall in several states in the country is due to the incoming northeast monsoon and the movement of the low pressure system. The situation today may be worse than yesterday, with more places likely to experience flooding. The low pressure is still hovering over the Straits of Malacca, so there will be heavy rainfall in all nearby areas.

The Meteorological Department has issued a red rainstorm warning for Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, with persistent heavy rainfall expected in Selangor. The Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Rainstorm Warning for Perak, Kelantan, Pahang, Selangor, Putrajaya and parts of Negeri Sembilan, with persistent heavy rainfall expected until December 19.

A yellow rainstorm warning has been issued for Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, with heavy rainfall expected to continue until December 19.

The public is urged to be vigilant and avoid roads that are prone to flooding, and not to park their cars in low-lying areas. People are also urged to follow the instructions of the authorities and evacuate as soon as they are instructed to do so.
