Touch ‘n Go Card and SmartTAG to be discontinued at major toll stations!

16/12/2021

Attention! The Touch ‘n Go Card and SmartTAG will be discontinued at toll booths.

According to the Ministry of Public Works, the authorities will discontinue the use of Touch ‘n Go Card and SmartTAG in order to open more RFID lanes, and the public is urged to use RFID to pay the toll.

In the report pointed out that the North-South Road from Penang to Johor toll booths will be used from January 15, 2022 to pay the toll system RFID. Road users can easily and quickly pass through the toll booths, reducing the time spent in line. The Ministry of Works plans to implement the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) system gradually at various toll plazas in the country.

It is understood that under the RFID system, vehicles can be cleared at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour, which is faster than the 20 kilometers per hour required by SmartTAG, so clearance can be smoother.

However, many car owners complain about the use of RFID experience is not good, you must reverse the toll station several times before moving forward in order to smoothly pass. Do you have the same experience?
