07/12/2021

“Limited time messages”
WhatsApp has introduced a “time-limited messages” feature that will automatically delete the message after 7 days once activate. Now, WhatsApp has improved this feature by allowing you to choose to keep the message for 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days, after which your message will be automatically deleted from your chat box without leaving any trace. However, this feature is limited to individual conversations and cannot be used in groups conversations. If you use this feature, the other party will be prompted when they receive your message to ensure that both parties are aware of the time limit on the conversation.

To enable this feature, you can open your WhatsApp, select Settings, open Privacy, click Default Message Timer, and select the time you want to set. However, this feature doesn’t stop people from forwarding or screenshotting messages.

iOS only for now
WhatsApp explained that the company takes user privacy very seriously and designed this feature to allow users to speak more freely without having to worry that their private conversations will be recorded by someone else’s phone. According to the introduction, this feature has been developed, but temporarily only limited to iOS.
