According to a message sent by Ministry of Health, the government is considering requiring specific groups to receive a booster dose before they are deemed to have completed vaccination. This is only a proposal and no decision has been made at this time. The Health Ministry is expected to make an announcement next week.
Previously, the Ministry of Health released data showing that about 45% of people who received booster appointments chose to skip them, which was of great concern to the Ministry. However, with the advent of the Omicron variant, it is believed that this will encourage more people to receive the booster vaccine.
Many people are hesitant to mix vaccines, and Ministry of Health urges people to be proactive about getting booster vaccines and to give preference to Pfizer’s vaccines. Some vaccination centers around the country are also preparing more Sinovac vaccines for those who do not want to mix their vaccines.
While there are still 1.3 million unvaccinated adults, and the government will be more aggressive in promoting vaccination for these groups.
