Attention all Maybank2u users! Starting November 9, 2021, you will no longer receive SMS TAC when you transfer more than RM1,000.
According to a message from Maybank, Maybank is gradually making Secure2u the preferred option for verifying banking transactions and users can only verify transactions through Secure2u when making transactions of a specific amount.
Maybank started to reduce the amount of transactions that require Secure2u verification from RM5,000 to RM2,000 in February, March and October this year, and now Maybank has announced that it will be reduced to RM1,000 from November 9. This means that when you use Maybank2u to transfer funds over RM1,000, you will only receive a verification pop-up from Secure2u and no longer receive SMS TAC.
In addition, from 16 November 2021 onwards, purchases of Prepaid Reload on cell phones using Maybank2u will also have to be verified with Secure2u.
Secure2u means that when you make a transaction with Maybank2u, the Maybank APP will pop up a verification window and you can simply click Approve to complete the transaction. secure2u can avoid the hassle of not receiving SMS and is also more secure and reliable.
The reason why Secure2u is more secure than SMS TAC is that Secure2u can only be used on phones that have been verified. Those phones that are not verified will not be able to use your Secure2u.
When you use the Maybank APP on a new phone, you will receive a six-digit verification code via SMS to verify your phone, and then your Maybank APP will be tied to that phone. In the future, only the phone that is already tied will receive the Secure2u pop-up every time you make a transaction.
Even if a stranger knows your Maybank2u password, he or she will not receive Secure2u as long as it does not pass the binding, which is more secure than SMS TAC alone.
The second advantage of Secure2u is that you don’t have to wait for SMS TAC. Sometimes the line is not good, or the telecom company’s system is not working, then the user can not receive SMS TAC, Secure2u does not have this trouble, as long as your network is good, then you will definitely receive the Secure2u authentication pop-up.
For Maybank users who have not yet enabled Secure2u, you can open the new Maybank APP and click on Secure2u at the bottom of the login page, then follow the instructions to register.
