18/10/2021

Finance Minister Tunku Zafrul announced in his 2021 Budget presented to Parliament last year that people can get a tax deduction of up to RM1,000 for vaccinations. This tax deduction applies to various vaccines, such as the hepatitis B vaccine and the cervical cancer vaccine.

In addition, the government has lowered the income tax rate by 1% for the taxable income group of RM50,000 to RM70,000. The tax rate for this group was originally 14%, but has now been reduced to 13%.
Other tax deductible items include RM6,000 to RM8,000 for medical aids, RM5,000 to RM8,000 for parental medical expenses and RM500 to RM1,000 for health check-ups.

In addition, the tax deductible amount for quality of life has been increased from RM2,500 to RM3,000, under which purchases of computers, cell phones, books, fitness equipment, etc. are tax deductible.
