7.15 million people are eligible! Only these people can get the ‘third and booster’ coronavirus vaccine, and KJ explains the difference!

05/10/2021

There is a difference between the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine and the booster dose!

“DOS ketiga (third dose) refers to the dose given after full vaccination because the body’s system has failed to establish adequate protection, which can occur in people with weak immune systems who are at high risk (such as chronic diseases or other diseases),” KJ said.

The DOS booster is an additional vaccine injected eight months after vaccination completion, giving high-risk groups extra protection.
Booster jab refers to giving another dose of vaccine to a previously adequately protected person after vaccination completion. But due to some reasons, such as decreased immunity, reduced protection against mutant viruses, the protection decreases over time.

Third dose of vaccine (DOS Ketiga) :

  • It will give it to people with weakened immune systems, such as cancer patients, organ transplant patients or other patients.
  • People will not inject the third dose until at least 28 days after the second dose.
  • The third dose will be the same type of vaccine as the original vaccine (homologous vaccine) unless the attending physician determines any medical contraindications.
  • This group may require additional doses or booster doses later but will be informed and determined after sufficient scientific evidence has been obtained.

Booster:

  • Priority should be given to high-risk groups, including frontline health care workers, those aged over 60 with diabetes or obesity, and long-term residents in care centres.
  • Additional doses of vaccine are injected six to eight months after completion of vaccination.
  • The vaccine category of the booster depends on the available vaccine supply, which is a homologous or heterogeneous vaccine.
  • Depending on the availability of the vaccine, the government will also consider giving booster doses to other groups in the future, including health workers and individuals with comorbidities such as obesity, diabetes and hypertension.
