The unemployed can receive RM500 in October.
According to a message from Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz, different subsidies will be distributed each month until the end of the year, and different groups can receive different subsidies in different months. The unemployed will receive RM500 in unemployment subsidies in October.
Former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin announced in June that RM500 would be handed out to the unemployed. Eligible people will receive a one-off RM500 payment in October, which is expected to benefit 1 million people.
The government has allocated a total of RM $500 million to implement this subsidy for the unemployed.
The Government will rely on the databases of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) to distribute unemployment benefits. As long as you are unemployed in 2021 and can be found in the EPF and SOCSO databases, you will be eligible for RM500 assistance.
If you are not a member of Social Security Organisation, you are not eligible for unemployment assistance. Recipients must be between 21 and 60 years old.
