Apple finally released the much-awaited iPhone 12 series on October 16. The newly released new phone series are worth looking forward to owning whether it is in terms of new features, camera lens, core configuration, water resistance, or drop resistance. Although it has done a good job in all aspects, there is one unsatisfactory one, that is, Apple announced that from now on buying the iPhone series will not include a charger and wired headset. In order to reduce carbon footprints and avoid the use of environmentally friendly materials, Apple does not include chargers and headphones.
In a sense, Apple’s approach is a considerable breakthrough for it. The absence of chargers and earphones not only allows Apple to earn extra income, but also allows them to maintain their morals. That being said, Apple’s approach has attracted many manufacturers’ complaints and ridicules on social media. They each stated that their devices are equipped with chargers and headphones as standard. It is reported that Samsung, as a member of the complaints, may follow Apple’s approach, and the new Samsung phone series Galaxy S21 will not be equipped with chargers and headphones as standard.
South Korean media reported that there are internal documents showing that Samsung is currently considering the effect of Apple’s approach. It may start with the Galaxy S21, but it may also be applied to other Samsung phone models. In other words, it is possible that the upcoming Galaxy S21 series will reduce packaging volume, and it is also possible to eliminate accessories. There are also people who think that Samsung does not have to follow Apple’s approach. Although Samsung does not ship headphones, it still continues to include a charger and does not need to eliminate the two accessories (charger and headset).
If Samsung really follows Apple’s approach, there is actually nothing to reduce the packaging volume and not deliver certain accessories. Not only can it reduce the generation of electronic waste and protect the environment, but Samsung can reduce the overall product cost. The Samsung Galaxy S21 series will be released in January next year, whether Samsung will follow Apple’s approach or not, we’ll know then.
