6 things to note when participating in EPF Special Withdrawals Scheme

23/03/2022

According to the information issued by the Employees Provident Fund Board (KWSP), members can only apply for withdrawals online. Details of the website for withdrawals have not yet been released by the EPF Board, but it is believed that this will be done in the near future.

KWSP is also urging members to ensure that their phone numbers are registered in the KWSP system. This is because when a member applies for a withdrawal, a mobile phone SMS with a one-time verification code (OTP) will be sent to the member and the member will need to enter the code to make a withdrawal request.

Members are also encouraged to check their EPF deposit status first so that they are aware of the amount they can withdraw and to avoid any shortfall in their deposits when making a request.

It is also important that the bank account provided by the member is still active in order to facilitate a smooth transfer process. The bank account used must be in the member’s own name and must be a personal savings or current account, not a joint account or a corporate account.

Those members who do not have a bank account can choose to receive their money in the form of Arahan Bayaran, which means that the member has to visit a designated KWSP to receive the Arahan Bayaran before it can be cashed in at a specific bank.
