472 areas in Selangor are facing water supply disruptions as heavy rains have caused river levels to rise, forcing the suspension of operations at several water filtration stations in the state.
According to a statement issued by the Selangor state government on December 19, water supply at LRA Langat 2 was disrupted due to a power outage at the station’s intake due to flooding. LRA Cheras Batu 11 was also affected by flooding. While water source at the LRA Langat water filtration station is very turbid and only produces 40% clean water.
The suspension of the operation of the water filtration station resulted in 472 areas in Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Ulu Langkat facing water supply disruption.
