A 4-year-old girl was trapped inside a washing machine for no apparent reason, but fortunately, she was successfully rescued by firefighters about an hour later.
The accident occurred at about 3.53pm on Wednesday at the Lubuk Merbau Reclamation Area in Padang Terah, Kedah.
Kuala Mudang Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Amiruddin said the authorities received an emergency call reporting that a young child was trapped in a washing machine.
He said that after receiving the emergency call, the operation center instructed the Kuala Mudang Fire and Rescue Department to go to the scene of the crime to carry out rescue operations.
“According to preliminary information received, a girl was trapped in the drying section of the manual washing machine.
“Firefighters used special tools to help the victims escape from the washing machine.”
Mohd Amirudin pointed out that the girl was successfully rescued and was not injured.
“The victim was rescued and called to the family safely. The operation concluded at 4.43pm.”
