A Japanese variety show “Happy! Poor Girl” interviewed this so-called “Japan’s most frugal girl”, Tamu Kamisaki, a few years ago. She has been living a frugal life since she was 18 years old, and had the ambition to own 3 houses before she turned 34, but to her surprise, she actually achieved this wish and now lives the rest of her life by collecting rent!

The show was filmed in 2019 and the woman is 37 years old and currently a cat cafe owner. She made public her money-saving rules back then, the most basic of which is to develop the habit of “extreme money-saving”, and this habit has continued for 10 years!

After graduating from college, she joined a real estate company and saved most of her monthly salary, and saved as much as she could every day. When she goes to the supermarket, she only buys ingredients that are “half price” or “on sale”, and keeps her budget for three meals under 200 yen (about RM6.70). Each meal is about 50 yen (about RM1.70) or less, and I eat directly from a pot without buying dishes.

Breakfast is jammy bread, lunch is salmon with white rice, and dinner is vegetable udon noodles

It is said that she never buys new clothes, but relies on other people’s old clothes, and uses recycled furniture!

She keeps an account every day, and even if she spends 1 yen, she keeps a detailed record.Eventually, at the age of 27, she managed to buy her first house for 10 million yen (RM337,000), and two years later, she took out a loan to buy a second property for 18 million yen (RM600,000) and turned it into a sublet suite, so that she could collect rent and save money at the same time.

Finally, the third house was bought at the age of 33!
