Recently, there have been a lot of incidents of bank deposits being stolen and credit cards being swiped. In cases of credit card theft, the victims would say that they did not receive the OTP one-time verification code, but their credit cards were swiped.
As a credit card or debit card user, did you know that in 2 situations, you do not need to enter the OTP one-time verification code when you swipe your card online?
1. You’ve ever tied a bank card
If you have bound your bank card to an e-wallet or online shopping platform, you will no longer need to enter the OTP one-time verification code each time you use your bank card to top up your account on that platform.
Here it is recommended that you should not bind your bank card to your e-wallet or online shopping platform, instead you should enter your card number only every time you top up. Remember to delete your bank card details from the platform after you finish topping up.
2. Overseas online trading platforms
If you have ever used your bank card to purchase online on an overseas online trading platform, you will find that you only need to enter your card number, CVV and expiration date to basically complete the payment process, and there is no need to enter the OTP one-time verification code.
Here we recommend that you remember to delete your bank card details on the platform after swiping your card on overseas online trading platforms. If you rarely transact on overseas online platforms, you can choose to turn off the overseas transaction function of your bank card.
