09/02/2022

As of 12 noon on February 9, 17,134 new cases have been confirmed in Malaysia!

According to the information issued by the Director General of Health, Tan Sri Nohithan, there are 17,134 new cases in Malaysia in a single day as of February 9 and the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Malaysia is 2,956,332.

Of the 17,134 new cases diagnosed in a single day, 86 cases or 0.5% of the cases were in Level 3, 4 and 5, while the remaining 17,048 cases or 99.5% of the cases were mild or asymptomatic in Level 1 and 2.

Malaysia has seen more than 10,000 new cases in a single day for several days and is expected to reach its peak in March. Although there has been a surge in new cases in Malaysia, most of them are mild or asymptomatic cases that do not require hospitalization, which will not squeeze our healthcare system.

The public is urged to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) such as wearing masks properly, keeping physical distance from others and responding positively to calls for booster shots.
