CIMB and Hong Leong Bank will close 14 branches.

14 branches will be closed by CIMB and Hong Leong Bank in October.

As internet banking spreads, domestic banks are lowering the size of their branches and converting to automated teller machines and Internet banking as their primary methods of service delivery.

12 CIMB branches and 2 Hong Leong Bank branches will be shuttered in October, according to information provided by CIMB and Hong Leong Bank.

1. CIMB closes branches

In October, CIMB will close 12 branches. On 14th October 2022 (Friday) these branches will cease operations. Three branches in Kuala Lumpur, five in Selangor, one each in Penang, Perak, Pahang, and Sarawak are among the 12 CIMB locations that will be shut down. On October 14, 2022, at 1pm, the last day of business, these branches will close early.

2. Hong Leong Bank closes branches

In October, Hong Leong Bank will close and move 2 branches.

The operations of the Hong Leong Bank branch in Butterworth, Penang, at Sungai Dua will be transferred to the branch there at Jalan Ong Yi How. The branch in Sungai Dua will cease operations on October 7, 2022 (Friday).

Hong Leong Bank has built a self-service kiosk (CRT) at the 7-Eleven in Taman Desa Murni, which is only 38 metres away from the shuttered branch, to make it easier for locals to withdraw cash and execute financial activities.

The Hong Leong Bank branch in Pulau Pulau Penang will transfer its operations to the Bayan Lepas branch in Penang. The last day of business for Hong Leong Bank Pulau Pulau Pulau is Friday, October 21, 2022.

In Pulau Pulau, Hong Leong Bank has also set up a self-service machine at Happy Mart, 92 metres away from the bank, where customers may perform a variety of banking transactions.
