According to the information released by the Meteorological Department of Malaysia, as at 4:40pm on 19 July 2022, there is one area in our country that is experiencing Level 1 heat, namely Alor Gajah in Malacca.
An area is classified as a Category 1 hot weather area when it has a maximum temperature between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius for 3 consecutive days.
When the maximum temperature in an area is between 37 and 40 degrees Celsius for 3 consecutive days, the area is classified as Level 2, which is a heat wave. When the maximum temperature in an area exceeds 40 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days, the area is classified as Level 3, which is a super heatwave.
People are urged to drink more water and reduce outdoor activities during this period. If you experience symptoms such as dizziness, burning skin, heavy sweating, pallor and a drop in blood pressure, you are suffering from heatstroke and should immediately stop what you are doing and go to a cooler place to rest and drink more water.
