【COVID-19】Malaysia adds 14,045 people recovered and 31 deaths

As of yesterday, only Selangor maintained half or more of ICU beds and general beds for Covid-19 patients nationwide, accounting for 56% and 50% respectively. The occupancy rate of beds in the municipality does not exceed 40%.

The Director-General of Health Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Hisham said no state and federal territory Covid-19 low risk isolation and treatment centre (PKRC) beds are more than half utilized.

“There are currently 206 confirmed, suspected confirmed and under investigation cases in intensive care units, and the number of patients requiring ventilator assistance has increased to 109, with a utilization rate of 13 per cent.”

He said in a statement that 507 hospitalized confirmed cases were recorded yesterday, of which 41.6% or 211 were in Stages 3-5 (severe cases) and 58.4% or 296 were in Stages 1-2 (asymptomatic or mild cases).

The latest statistics reported by Noor Hisham pointed out that of the 14,944 new confirmed cases in Malaysia yesterday, 104 were imported from abroad. Of the remaining 14,840 local cases, 96% or 14,247 cases involved Malaysians. Only 4% or 593 cases involved non-citizens, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases so far has reached 4,307,529, with the national basic infection number below 1 (0.84).

He pointed out that 14,045 Covid-19 patients have recovered yesterday, and a total of 4,113,831 people have been cured, accounting for 95.5% of the total cases.

He analyzed that among the new cases, 0.44% or 66 were severe cases belonging to patients with grades III, IV and V, 50% or 33 were patients aged 60 and above, and 48.48% or 32 had a history of co-morbidities. Among them, 16.67% or 11 cases have not been vaccinated or have not completed the vaccination, 53.03% or 35 cases have received 2 doses but no booster shots, 30.3% or 20 cases have received booster shots; the remaining 14,878 cases or 99.56% are First (asymptomatic) and second (mild) patients. 

He said that two new infection clusters were added yesterday, bringing the total to 6947 so far, of which 6812 have been released from observation, and 135 active clusters have been recorded.

In addition, according to data released by the Ministry of Health’s COVIDNOW website, my country reported 31 new crown deaths yesterday, with a total of 35,259 deaths so far.

Of the deaths reported yesterday, the number of cases sent to pre-hospital death (BID) accounted for 6 cases, a total of 7449 cases.
